In planning the trip to take my daughter off to start her first year of college in Washington State, I've been researching where the hot springs are from San Francisco northward (plus some in the Sierras because I think I'm driving back that way via Tahoe/Yosemite). I thought I'd just make a list here of some I found for future reference.
Do you know of any other hot springs, natural or developed that I don't have below?
Also, care to share some personal favorite places, hot springs or otherwise, we should visit on the trip from here to Walla Walla or on my way back? A friend gave me a map of the Portland/Salem area and I'm guessing we'll make at least a stop or two in in the Washington wine country.
Does anyone have a good online trip planning tool? I'm using AAA's right now and while it's pretty good, it's a little buggy and doesn't have the best UI.
AB and I set off on the road on Saturday.
Northern California Hot Springs
Mono Hot Springs http://www.monohotsprings.com/
About 90 miles east of Fresno, but takes about 2.5 hours to get to its secluded mountain location on the edge of the Ansel Adams Wilderness. The outdoor, jetted pool is filled with natural mineral water and has views of Mt. Hooper.
